Our aim is to build confidence within the team, stimulate and relax the mind, activate the body and switch on both sides of the brain while constructing team building tasks, formulating problem-solving activities and playing fun group games to build stronger relationships. We also want to teach the group about the core aspects of being a team and how to work together in the most productive way possible, to push their company forward and be the best they can be.

What’s involved in a Body Flow Team Building workshop?

• Multi-tasking – Using both sides of the brain and body to be able to multi-task. The workshop starts with various individual tasks, then leads into partner and group activities. Multi-tasking is a great way to activate the mind and body on any given day or situation.

• Problem-solving – Using batons to solve puzzles which are handed out on cards that range from easy to difficult. The team will need to work together to solve the puzzles and advance to the next stage. Will the team complete all of the tasks assigned in time? Baton twirling and baton balancing skills will also be taught during this section of the workshop. Focussed on individual accomplishment and team problem-solving tasks.

• Tai Chi and Self Defence – Learning various breathing and relaxation techniques, body and posture alignments, grounding and self-defence practices. The group will move between different partners and learn various self-defence techniques and play tai chi games to build better balance and body awareness. This section is great for building confidence and stronger relationships.

• Juggling and ball skills – Learning different ball tricks to increase hand to eye coordination, reaction speed and cognitive movement. After learning various tricks and competing against each other with single ball skills the team will progress to group games that increase in difficulty. The team will have to work together to advance to the next level.

• Construction - The team will be split up into groups and given a time limit to create the tallest tower out of spaghetti pasta. This task has very deep lessons in collaboration. We advise the team to not rush into the structure but plan and discuss options within the team. The team with the tallest tower wins but a team with a standing structure at the end will still feel satisfied.

Make these school holidays spectacular! Learn how to do all the amazing stunts behind NightQuarter Spectacular from world-class performers at our action-packed school holiday circus workshops this January, 11th & 12th at NightQuarter, Helensvale.

Meet the Elements crew members and learn from the experts themselves on how to juggle, do acrobatics, martial arts, hula hooping and more. The workshop will end with a showcase from the NightQuarter Spectacular cast!

Thank you to everyone at Goondiwindi State High School it was an amazing experience to share my workshops as part of your Expressive Arts Week.

Your Expressive arts week is such a great idea for the kids to experience a variety of arts and culture from around the world. Teaching Tai Chi to the children of Goondiwindi State High was an amazing experience the children really took the teachings and stayed focused throughout the class. By explaining what tai chi is, where it comes from and the benefits of practicing this internal martial art the children knew what to focus on during the class. After practicing tai chi movements, playing pushing hands and leg fencing the class was ready to compete. 2 children would come to the middle of the circle and compete to be the winner in ‘Pushing Hands’ a game focused on stability, strength and reactions. The class finished with Chiqong breathing exercises and 5 minutes of mindfulness meditation focussing on them-selves and listening to their own body, a practice I believe we all don’t spend enough time on.

Thank you also for having Energy’s fire performance at the schools ‘Flaming Poetry’ evening, the children and parents had some really nice feed back and I enjoyed every second of the show.

The real heroes at the schools expressive arts week are the teachers who organise and put all of their time and effort into creating a fun and educational week of madness and laughter.

Thank you Goondiwindi, I hope we have the chance to have some fun again one day soon.

Energy Entertainments provided Tugun Surf Life Saving Club a Halloween special fire show and Body Flow workshop combined for the Tugun Nippers. Body Flow coach Neal Webb constructed team building baton games with the nippers and taught baton twirling skills to increase the children’s focus, hand eye coordination, reflexes and concentration. After the games and skills part of the workshop Neal sat the children in a circle and explained the dangers of fire, the reasons to respect fire and to not play with fire without proper training and responsible adults present.

Each child had the chance to hold a fire sword or fire stick and feel the heat of this raging element. Energy Entertainments believe by having the chance to hold and control fire in a structured workshop the children will be less likely to be curious in the wrong situation alone or with friends where a responsible adult may be present.

To finish Neal provided a fire show demonstration to entertain the children and their parents.

Thank you to Tugun Surf Life Saving Club for having Energy Entertainments ‘BodyFlow’ workshop on Halloween evening, the children looked amazingly scary all dressed up and they were a pleasure to teach and have fun with.

Thank you to everyone at Goondiwindi State High School. It was an amazing experience to share my BodyFlow Tai Chi workshops as part of your Expressive Arts Week. As everyone can see in the photos everyone is smiling and having fun, especially me.

It was a challenge for me to bring a whole high school back to themselves. Between the ages of 13 – 16 many children forget or have not yet realised to focus and listen to their own body and mind. After the 1st class I knew I had to stimulate their minds and body first with external movements, only then could I bring them down to relax and centre themselves in tai chi postures and practices. While having fun and playing tai chi games the students really took on-board the benefits tai chi has to offer.

It was such a great idea for the kids to experience a variety of arts and culture’s from around the world at Goondiwindi’s State High School Expressive Arts Week, I hope other schools feel the need to teach their students the benefits of looking within and relaxing the mind.

Keep an eye out for Neal performing his high energy martial art fire shows at the Swell Sculpture Festival and the award winning Buskers By The Creek, both festivals held in Currumbin on the Gold Coast in September and October 2015.

Energy Entertainments are also holding Tai Chi workshops in Goondiwindi School with Kung Fu performances and a fire weapons show including fire sword, fire bow staff and fire chain whip to close the event.

The Heart of Fire Documentary is in full swing and will be completed by the end of the year. Heart of Fire is a journey to find the roots of fire dancing where professional fire performer Neal Webb visits the World Fireknife Championships in Hawaii and trains with the Polynesian warriors to see if he has what it takes to become a fireknife warrior.

There are lots of high energy fire twirling/dancing/spinning shows coming to the Gold Coast and Sydney over the next few months so watch this space and I hope you’re lucky enough to feel the heat of Neal performance.

Gabrielle and myself joined a workshop with the African Children’s Choir on Sunday in Mullumbimby. We were overwhelmed with the confidence, talent and love the children shared with us, we arranged a Body Flow workshop and fire show the next day in Byron with them. The whole experience was amazing and will never be forgotten, we all made a connection and one day Gabs and myself hope to rekindle our friendships in Uganda. 

The African Children’s Choir have been on tour now for 10 months and are in their final 2 weeks until they return home to their families. Marcia Gusti president of KwaYa and tour leader along with Abraham the children’s choir leader, made it possible for us to enjoy the love of dance and music together. Thank you!

Poi, Staff and Kung Fu Workshops for Swell Sculpture Festival.  

Energy Entertainments will be holding Poi, Staff and Kung Fu workshops at Swell Sculpture Festival 2014.

The workshops will focus on the importance of warm up exercises, balance, special awareness, reaction speed, relaxation in movements and hand-to-eye coordination while playing games and having fun. We use poi and staff (batons) to help in these areas and the students will learn the basics and progress in techniques and tricks throughout the class.

Workshops will be held on Saturday 13th, Sunday 14th and Sunday 21st September at Wallace Nicoll Park, Currumbin Beach.
